Christmas 2002: December 26

We were still in Rüdesheim for this "second day of Christmas". It was even foggier than Christmas Day was. We walked out to the monument again, but couldn't see far enough to see it or the river below. We walked down to Rüdesheim. Everything was still closed, so we couldn't do much besides walk around, but it looked like a nice little town. While we were there it started raining again, and by the time we got back to the hotel I was soaked.

After a nap we dressed up for dinner again. The first course was "cream soup of fish", which wasn't quite as good as yesterday's soup, but still good. The main course was "saddle of venison in a walnut crust with savoy and Dauphine potatoes". The venison wasn't cooked as long as we normally like our meat, but it tasted good. Dessert was "homemade mousse of gingerbread with a chocolate-ginger sauce and fruits".
